Image to Text (OCR)
Pull the words out of a photo or screenshot.
The first run downloads the OCR engine and your chosen language model — about 12–15 MB — from a public CDN, then your browser caches it. The recognition itself happens on your device: the image is never uploaded.
Picking the right language makes a large difference to accuracy.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the first run slow?
The OCR engine and language model — about 12 to 15 MB — download from a public CDN the first time. Your browser caches them, so every later run starts immediately.
How do I get better accuracy?
Photograph the page straight on with even lighting, fill the frame, avoid shadows, and pick the correct language. Those four things matter far more than the resolution.
Can it read handwriting?
Not reliably. Tesseract is built for printed text; handwriting recognition is a different problem and results will be poor.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Only the engine and language model are downloaded — your picture stays on your device.
